February 12th, 2027 - Welcome Dinner

Friday night is a celebration of culture — ours and yours. We invite you to come dressed in something that represents your heritage, or embrace ours with African or Caribbean-inspired attire. Think bold textiles, rich fabrics, vibrant colors, intricate patterns, traditional silhouettes, headpieces, statement jewelry, and cultural details. Whether you choose traditional attire, a modern interpretation of your culture, or simply incorporate cultural prints and textiles into your look, make it your own. And please, do not worry about outdressing the couple. This is not the night to play it safe. We want you to go BIG — bold, colorful, glamorous, dramatic, and unforgettable. Bring the look you would normally think is “too much.” For this night, too much is exactly enough. Come representing. Come dressed. Come ready to celebrate.

February 14th, 2027 - Wedding

This is your official excuse to wear the outfit you’ve been waiting to show off. Think elegant, glamorous, black-tie energy. We want to see the gowns, the suits, the sparkle, and the confidence! And before anyone worries… Baby… you cannot outdress a Guyanese bride. So put your best fit on, have fun with it, and come ready to celebrate. The only rule? Please, no white. Let’s leave that color for the bride.

Our story

We matched on Hinge on June 4, 2020, and two weeks later, on June 19, we finally met in person. Our first date was supposed to be dinner, but between running late, a Juneteenth event, and a three-hour wait at Yard House, those plans quickly went out the window. Instead, we grabbed Chick-fil-A, sat in the car overlooking the city, and talked for hours. Nothing fancy, nothing planned — but somehow, it was perfect.

That same weekend, Omefa had duty, her sister was stranded in Barbados because of a storm, and we were trying to figure out what to do with the dogs and the house. Even though we had only just met, Sy stepped in without hesitation. It was such a simple thing, but it meant so much. Looking back, that was one of the first moments that showed us the kind of relationship we were building, one where we could depend on each other and know the other person would show up when it mattered.
